Regional Issues Committee

Audiovisual production must develop and fully benefit local workers throughout Quebec. The question is crucial: How can we ensure success and growth in the regions?

This vital need was raised during the October 2024 Discussion Forum and is a priority for our members.

The Committee on Regional Issues

Following the passionate initiative of members from Quebec City and Bas-du-Fleuve, AQTIS 514 IATSE has created a new Regional Issues Committee.

An engaged team: a dozen professionals working primarily outside of Montreal have already enthusiastically joined the movement.

The Objectives: Identifying and Resolving Key Challenges

We are focusing on the specific reality of productions and technicians in the regions:

  • Local Hiring: Ensure that productions (local, Montreal-based, or foreign) hire more local labour.

  • Administrative Simplification: Seek reasonable relief measures to increase the number of productions operating under negotiated agreements in the regions.

  • Access to Training: Make our training more accessible and promote access to function recognition for those who do not work in Montreal.

  • Representation: Give more weight and voice to technicians outside of Montreal within AQTIS 514 IATSE.

  • Membership Benefits: Allow regional technicians to access the full benefits of their membership.
