Editing & Postproduction Department

Be a member recognized as an Editor for at least 5 years

Completed the Introduction to the editing department training.

Have accumulated 120 days of work as an Editor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Provide the following documents:

• 1 letter of recommendation from a Director or a Producer
• 1 letter of recommendation from a sponsor

The sponsor acts as a resource person, both for exchange and learning purposes, until the aspiring Editor is recognized as an Editor. He or she is selected from among the recognized Editor members of the organization. It is recommended that the mentorship cover the full 120 days. A list will be made available to members soon, until it is compiled you can contact Marion Farrando, Union Affairs Advisor.

Have taken the MONT-3 training

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Assistant Editor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

We are in the process of harmonizing the union’s recognition requirements.

In the meantime, there are two ways to be recognized for the Sound Editor position:

• According to the previous IATSE 514 requirements - Download (in French only)
• According to the previous AQTIS requirements – see below:
  • Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Sound Editor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

We are in the process of harmonizing the union’s recognition requirements.

In the meantime, there are two ways to be recognized for the Assistant Sound Editor position:

• According to the previous IATSE 514 requirements - Download (in French only)
• According to the previous AQTIS requirements – see below:
  • Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Sound Editor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
  • Have taken the MONT-3 training

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Computer Graphic Designer under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Computer Graphic Designer under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Colorist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Video Graphics Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Computer Graphics Designer under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Computer Special Effects Graphic Artist permittee under AQTIS contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Sound Effects Editor permittee under AQTIS contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Post Production Supervisor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have taken the Rights and Responsibilities of a Team Leader training

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Post Production Coordinator permittee under AQTIS contract on at least 2 different productions

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Post Production Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
