Montreal, March 12, 2024 – The Association québécoise des techniciens et techniciennes de l’image et du son (AQTIS), IATSE Local 514, affiliated with the FTQ, is pleased with the measures announced by Finance Minister Éric Girard in his 2024-2025 budget.
The enhanced tax credit for Quebec film and television productions raises the ceiling on labour costs from 50% to 65% of total production costs. This will help support the growth of the local production industry.
The announced increase in the basic tax credit for foreign film productions from 20% to 25% will make Quebec and its workforce more attractive to international producers.
AQTIS 514 IATSE welcomes the investments announced today by Minister Girard. Christian Lemay, President of the organization, commented: “The Quebec government has taken important steps to promote the development of film and television production. This budget improves the financing of Quebec productions and will better position our industry on the world stage. We believe that these measures will help improve our members’ financial situation and support the creation of new jobs in our industry.”
AQTIS 514 IATSE intends to continue its advocacy efforts to make sure all levels of government recognize the film and television industry’s important contribution to Quebec’s economy.
