Montreal, April 3, 2024 —The Association québécoise des techniciens et techniciennes de l’image et du son (AQTIS), IATSE local 514, affiliated with the FTQ, is pleased to announce that the tentative agreements it reached in February with the Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) have been ratified. After several months of negotiations, the new collective agreements in the film, television and new media sectors were put to a vote by the organization’s more than 5,200 members, with 52.1% voting in favour.
AQTIS 514 IATSE is particularly pleased with the gains made on non-monetary issues. With respect to the hiring process, priority hiring of members who are recognized in their position was at the top of the union’s list of priorities. In addition to this important gain, progress was made on regulating the use of service providers. Finally, on wages, the new agreements are a step towards catch-up for historically disadvantaged positions.
“We are very pleased that our members have decided to approve the agreements,” said Christian Lemay, President of AQTIS 514 IATSE. “I congratulate the bargaining committee on its work. We have made significant progress on our members’ working conditions. Going forward, we will continue our efforts to maintain peace in the industry and press for improvements for technicians. We are committed to our mission of defending and promoting the monetary and non-monetary rights and interests of our members. This meeting of minds with the AQPM is an important step towards a better future.”
AQTIS 514 IATSE thanks everyone involved in the process that led to these agreements.
