AQTIS 514 IATSE welcomes the recommendations of the GTAAQ

MONTREAL, September 5, 2025 — AQTIS 514 IATSE, which represents 8,000 audiovisual professionals, welcomes the work of the committee that produced the report, as well as the efforts of the Minister of Culture and Communications, Mr. Mathieu Lacombe, who established it.
“ AQTIS 514 IATSE welcomes the recommendations included in the report of the Groupe de travail sur l’avenir de l’audiovisuel au Québec, which clearly recognized the urgency to act and addressed several issues that we have long been advocating for ,” said Bernard Larivière, President of AQTIS 514 IATSE.

Stronger financial support: through an adjustment of tax credits to keep our industry competitive;

More diversity: through measures encouraging the hiring of talent from diverse backgrounds;

Increase regional production: supporting local productions with concrete measures across Québec;

Up-to-date training: a major modernization of training so that technical experts are ready to face future challenges and maintain their internationally recognized expertise;

Support for youth content creation: dedicated funding for youth productions;

AI regulation: protecting the work of creators against AI;

Promoting our productions: enhanced promotion of our films and series to facilitate discovery by all audiences.
The Well-Being of Our Members
“ Recommendation 74 is particularly important to us. It aims to better support technicians in our industry by adapting the Employment Insurance system to the intermittent nature of their work, finally ensuring them financial and professional security and stability. This is a crucial measure, and we will work closely with the government and industry stakeholders to help facilitate its implementation,” added Mr. Larivière.
