Why do you have hiring priority?

Publié le September 17, 2025

In effect since August 2024, the collective agreements between AQTIS 514 IATSE and the AQPM for film, television, and new media include major gains for you.

Mandatory Hiring of a Minimum Number of Recognized Members

Previously, producers only had to worry about the number of permit holders they hired. Thanks to this new agreement, they are now required to hire 80% of recognized members for the roles being filled.

The agreement includes financial penalties for productions that do not respect this ratio.

AN AGREEMENT GOES TWO WAYS

This agreement is the result of negotiations with the AQPM. It demonstrates the power of our association and proves, once again, that our unity allows us to secure fairer and more favorable working conditions for our members.

This new clause is a recognition of the value of your experience and professionalism.

Where does this money go?

This money is transferred to the Audiovisual Sector Training Mutual Fund.

This fund's mandate is, among other things, to offer specialized training to audiovisual professionals so they can acquire new skills or retrain, thereby increasing their employability in our industry.

IMPORTANT: Your File Must Be Up to Date

Now more than ever, you must ensure that your file is up to date and that you are indeed recognized in your role.

How?
  • Access your secure section of the website to ensure your information is accurate and complete.

  • Consult the recognition criteria for your role by visiting your department's page.

  • Discover the training offered to obtain the necessary recognition.

  • Contact Member Services to update your recognitions as soon as the admission criteria are met.

The recognition of your roles is truly the best tool to promote your expertise to producers. Assert your rights and your hiring priority!

We invite you to review the major gains of the new agreements on this page and the memo designed to make them easier to understand.
