SAFER FILMING ON PUBLIC ROADS
Publié le November 14, 2025
One of the three meetings planned on this subject with members of some of our departments was held on October 28, as part of the work of the National Committee on Health and Safety in Audiovisual Production.
This committee has developed a new reference document to provide a framework for recordings made on public roads, a filming context that presents several specific risks.
These guidelines are intended to help productions identify, control, and eliminate risks related to the presence of moving vehicles or their atypical use, while strengthening prevention during filming on roads, streets, bridges, or sidewalks.
They reiterate:
- The importance of preparing a detour and signage plan that complies with Quebec Ministry of Transport (MTQ) standards;
- The need to designate a person responsible for communications on set;
- The requirements for flaggers, drivers, and support or stunt vehicles;
- And the shared responsibility of everyone present to ensure the safety of crews and the public.
