Janie Otis, key hair stylist
Janie Otis left her home town of Saguenay, Quebec in 2005, determined to break into the world of audiovisual production and the performing arts. A passionate, multitalented woman, she quickly made her mark.
Her work as key hairdresser has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Prix Gémeaux for the TV series Mensonges (Season 2) and Le monster and the Prix Iris for the film L’arracheuse de temps. Janie has toured the world with the Cirque du Soleil and styled hair for various shows and other events, such as Alegria, R.U.N. and Messi10. She has also worked with the Comédie Française on the stage production of Lucrèce Borgia at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, after which she went to Paris to develop her skills in wigmaking and period hairdressing at the home of this prestigious institution in Paris.
For Janie, passing her knowledge on to others is both an art and a passion. She holds a bachelor’s degree in vocational education from the Université du Québec à Montréal and teaches hairdressing at the Centre de services scolaire de Montréal’s École des métiers des Faubourgs-de-Montréal.
