Introduction to the Editing Department

ABOUT
This course provides theoretical training to make editors aware of the realities of the profession as it is practiced today. This course uses concrete examples and discussions to present the tools needed to work effectively in the various phases of postproduction.
Note: This is not an applied course in editing.
Target professions
All members of the editing department and anyone interested in the profession of editor.
Mandatory course to be recognized in the position of editor.
Prerequisites
Have taken the course “Initiation to community life” or already be a member of AQTIS 514 IATSE.
Training team
Claude Collins’s career in editing goes back nearly 25 years. He has worked on documentary series, magazine shows, reality shows, commercials, music videos and short films, as well as on many public affairs and children’s programs. He also has strong experience in motion capture.
Claude is Vice-President, Postproduction at AQTIS 514 IATSE and one of the driving forces behind the editors’ festival ”Les monteurs à l'affiche”.
Myriam Poirier has spent the last 35 years in the editing room, first as an assistant editor and then as a sound editor, then in all the related jobs: dialogue and sound effects editing, sound designer, supervision of sound effects, post-synch and final mix.
Editor since 1998, she has worked on feature documentaries, short fiction films, documentary series, drama series and feature films.
An active member since the very beginning of the Comité des treize, the editing department, the Festival les Monteurs à l'affiche, and the organization of the annual BBQ and happy hours, Myriam has always taken solidarity at heart.

The number of participants allowed in each course is limited. On the day of the course, we will not admit any participants who have not paid for it in advance.
