Veterans committee
The Veterans Committee was set up to work on issues related to career-end and working after 55.List of main issues:
• Retirement/income: RSP, other income, RRIF, tax planning, preparing for retirement
• AQTIS 514 IATSE insurance: costs, benefits, improvements
• Contributions: Annual, deductions
• Skills transfer: Master classes, mentoring.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Identify and evaluate services offered by AQTIS 514 IATSE to “veteran” members
• Define the challenges of transitioning into retirement
• Identify problematic or discriminatory situations
• Promote intergenerational skills transfer
• Create (or support the creation of) an information campaign
• Help draft messages sent to members to inform them of changes to their membership status
• Recommend to the Executive concrete actions that address these challenges
Sample actions:
• Take part in the reflection on the RSP and insurance following the merger
• Recommend to the Executive that veterans receive an age discount on their dues
