Craft Department
This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Craft department.
To become a member of any department, you have to:
- Be a member in good standing (have paid the membership dues)
- Have completed the Introduction to the union session
In effect since December 8, 2021.

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT
- Introduction to the Union
- Food handler
- First Aid in the Workplace
- WHMIS 2015
- Prevention of harassement - members, contributing to a harassment-free culture
NOTE: If you are required to drive a heavy vehicle as part of your duties, you must first complete the OODHV Act – Drivers Section course.
This training is intended for drivers of heavy vehicles (i.e., a vehicle weighing more than 4500 kg, commonly called a "cube"). This training is not linked to a department or a position, but rather to the execution of a specific task.
US Productions only
Has accumulated 120 days of work as a Key Craft under Union contract on 2 different productions
Is recognized as a Assistant Key Craft
As taken the courses :
US Productions only
Has accumulated 90 days of work as a Key Assistant Craft under Union contract on 2 different productions
Is recognized as a Craft Person (US)
As taken the courses :
US Productions only
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Craft (US) under Union contract on 2 different productions
Has taken the MAPAQ manipulateur-trice d'aliments (1 jour) training
The Safe Handling of Gases course is highly recommended for the Craft (US)
Non-US Productions only
Has accumulated 120 days of work as a Craft under Union contract on 2 different productions
Is recognized as a Craft Assistant
As taken the courses :
Non-US Productions only
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Craft assistant under Union contract on 2 different productions
Has taken the MAPAQ manipulateur-trice d'aliments (1 jour) training
Safe Handling of Gases (formerly Utilisation sécuritaire du butane et propane en milieu de travail) course is highly recommended for the Craft Assistant
DEPARTMENT HIERARCHY
Credits may be transferred:
- From a higher to a lower position in the hierarchy
- Between a craft person (U.S.) and an assistant craft person
Are you a technician interested in opening an account with AQTIS 514 IATSE (or complete an existing one)? If so, you must provide your date of birth and your social insurance number (SIN) when filling out the form.
This information allows us to issue your income tax slips and to transfer the accumulated saving from your RRSP and insurance, following the collective agreements.
