MONTREAL, February 27, 2024 — The Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) and the Association québécoise des techniciens et techniciennes de l'image et du son (AQTIS), IATSE local 514, affiliated with the FTQ, are pleased to announce that, after several months of negotiations, they have reached tentative agreements in the film, television and new media sectors. The agreements will be submitted for ratification to the decision-making bodies of the two associations by early spring. No comment will be made on their substance until the producers and technicians have had a chance to read them and make a decision.

"These tentative agreements were reached at a time of profound change in the film and TV industry,” said Christian Lemay, President of AQTIS 514 IATSE. “We are proud to have achieved results that are consistent with our mission: to improve the social and economic conditions of our members. Our technicians will be able to continue practicing their trades with dignity thanks to improved conditions of employment that address their realities. Our bargaining committee will recommend ratification of this tentative agreement and we are confident that our members will recognize its merits."

"The tentative agreements reached by the parties will enable producers to continue offering Quebec audiences quality works made by top-notch professional crews, despite the additional costs in an already difficult environment,” said AQPM President and CEO Hélène Messier. “These agreements are based on a genuine compromise between the parties, and the bargaining committee will recommend ratification to the AQPM Board and members in the coming weeks.”

AQTIS 514 IATSE and the AQPM thank everyone involved in the process that led to these agreements.
