A NEW PREMIER FOR QUEBEC

FROM INTENT TO ACTION FOR QUEBEC’S AUDIOVISUAL SECTOR

Montréal, April 13, 2026 − AQTIS 514 IATSE congratulates CAQ leader Christine Fréchette on being sworn in as Premier of Québec.

At a time when the audiovisual sector is facing significant challenges, it is critical to provide a stable framework and take concrete steps to support the people who sustain it day in and day out. Important groundwork has already been laid, including the report of the Working Group on the Future of the Audiovisual Sector in Québec (GTAAQ), published in September 2025 and broadly endorsed by the industry, which sets out clear directions to inform next steps.

“We welcome Ms. Fréchette’s appointment and look forward to working with her government in the near term. The foundations are in place—now is the time to move forward with meaningful action to support technicians and strengthen our industry,” said Bernard Larivière, President of the Association.

AQTIS 514 IATSE reiterates its commitment to continuing the work already underway with the government in order to help advance sustainable, practical solutions that reflect on-the-ground realities and the challenges ahead.
