Quebec Audiovisual Strategy: A Historic Investment for the Future of the Industry
Publié le June 22, 2026
AQTIS 514 IATSE welcomes the unveiling of the 2026-2031 Quebec Audiovisual Strategy, which includes a $609.6 million investment announced by Premier Christine Fréchette and the Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe. This marks the most significant financial commitment to the Quebec audiovisual sector in three decades. The action plan had been eagerly awaited by the entire industry since the report of the Working Group on the Future of the Audiovisual Sector in Quebec (GTAAQ) was released on September 5, 2025.
Among the measures announced, AQTIS 514 IATSE is particularly pleased with those aimed at strengthening local production capacity and supporting the creation of a new interim funding program linked to the film and television production tax credit. The association also highlights the importance given to youth and the transmission of Quebec culture to new generations. In a media environment dominated by international competition, promoting access to high-quality Quebec content right where consumers are is essential to ensuring the vitality of our culture.
"In a context where the audiovisual sector is vulnerable, the announcement of a plan including substantial investments from the Fréchette government is welcomed positively by our association. We will remain vigilant to ensure that the invested funds flow through all involved sectors. The craftspeople must benefit from the money required to carry out their work on productions," states Bernard Larivière, president of AQTIS 514 IATSE.
