ELECTION DAY: WHAT ARE THE PRODUCER'S OBLIGATIONS?

With the upcoming provincial election on October 5, we would like to remind those working on election day that they must be provided with four (4) consecutive hours to exercise their right to vote.

What you need to know:

• You are entitled to four consecutive hours to vote between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
• If your work schedule already provides you with these four consecutive hours, the producer is not required to modify your work schedule.
• If your schedule does not provide you with four consecutive hours, a request must be made to the producer to adjust your schedule to provide you with the necessary time.
• Meal breaks cannot be counted as part of the period provided by the producer.
• These provisions therefore do not automatically entitle you to four hours of paid leave. Any schedule adjustment will depend on your work schedule and the number of hours you already have available to vote.
