This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Make-up department.

To become a member of any department, you have to:

Be a member in good standing (have paid the membership dues)
Have completed the Initiation à la vie associative session

In effect since September 9, 2021.

Mandotory training for all Makeup department members

Assistant Make-Up Artist in Film and Television
Initiation à la vie associative
Prevention of harassment - members, contributing to a harassment-free culture
Criminal liability for occupational health and safety
Standard first aid with CPR, level C
WHMIS 2015

Make-up

Make-Up Designer

Have taken the Managing a team training
Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Make-Up Designer or Head of Makeup Department under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Key Makeup Artist

Head of Makeup Department

Have taken the Managing a team training
Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Make-Up Designer or Head of Makeup Department under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Key Makeup Artist

Key Make-Up Artist

Have taken the Managing a team training
Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Key Make-Up Artist or Assistant Head of Makeup Department under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Makeup Artist

Assistant Head of Makeup Department

Have taken the Managing a team training
Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Key Make-Up Artist or Assistant Head of Makeup Department under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Makeup Artist

Background Make-Up Supervisor

Have taken the Managing a team training
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Key Make-Up Artist - Extra under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Makeup Artist

Make-Up Artist

Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Make-Up Artist under union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have been listed in the membership directory as a Assistant Makeup Artist

Assistant Make-Up Artist

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Make-Up Artist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Special Effects

Head of Special Effects Makeup Department

Have taken the Managing a team training

Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Head of Special Effects Makeup Department under union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have been listed in the membership directory as Key special effects makeup artist

Head of Make-Up Department

Have taken the Managing a team training

Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Key Special Effects Makeup Artist under union contract on at least 2 different productions

Have been listed in the membership directory as Special Effects Makeup Artist

Special Effects Make-Up Artist

Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Special Effects Make-Up Artist under union contract on at least 2 different productions

One of:

Provide 1 letters of reference from a Head of Special Effects Makeup Department
Have been listed in the membership directory as Assistant Special Effects Makeup Artist

Assistant Special Effects Make-Up Artist

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Special Effects Make-Up Artist under union contract on at least 2 different productions

OR

Have been listed in the membership directory as Workshop Technician

Workshop

Workshop Supervisor

Note that these function is generally present on large budget productions only.

Have accumulated 150 days of work as a Workshop Supervisor under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Workshop Technician

Note that these functions is generally present on large budget productions only.

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Workshop Technician under union contract on at least 2 different productions

New Account Form

Are you a technician interested in opening an account with AQTIS 514 IATSE (or complete an existing one)? If so, you must provide your date of birth and your social insurance number (SIN) when filling out the form.

This information allows us to issue your income tax slips and to transfer the accumulated saving from your RRSP and insurance, following the collective agreements.
