Lighting Department
This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Lighting department.
To become a member of any department, you have to:
- Be a member in good standing (have paid the membership dues)
- Have completed the session Introduction to the union
We are in the process of harmonizing the union’s recognition requirements.
In the meantime, there are two ways to be recognized for a position in the Lighting department:
- According to the previous IATSE 514 requirements - Download (in French only)
- According to the previous AQTIS requirements – see below:
- Have taken the following courses: Introduction to the union, Introduction to the Profession of Set Lighting Technician (ECLAIR) and Managing a Team
- Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Lighting Manager under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- Have taken the following courses: Introduction to the union, Introduction to the Profession of Set Lighting Technician (ECLAIR) and Managing a Team
- Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Gaffer/Key Lighting Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- Have taken the following courses: Introduction to the union & Introduction to the Profession of Set Lighting Technician (ECLAIR)
- Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Best Girl or Best Boy Lighting Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Lighting Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have followed the training Introduction to the Profession of Set Lighting Technician.
- Have taken the following courses: Introduction to the union, Introduction to the Profession of Set Lighting Technician (ECLAIR) and Managing a Team
- Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Key Rigging Gaffer under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Best Girl or Best Boy Rigging Gaffer under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Rigging Lighting Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Underwater Lighting Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Lighting Department Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Lighting Control Console Operator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Generator Operator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
The criterias for recignition in this fuction are currently under review.
Are you a technician interested in opening an account with AQTIS 514 IATSE (or complete an existing one)? If so, you must provide your date of birth and your social insurance number (SIN) when filling out the form.
This information allows us to issue your income tax slips and to transfer the accumulated saving from your RRSP and insurance, following the collective agreements.
