Access to training for members in the regions

Do you live far from Montréal? Thanks to initiatives by the Regional Issues Committee to make training more accessible and reduce the impact of travel and accommodation expenses.

Depending on your situation and the training course you choose, you may be eligible for a reduced rate or reimbursement of your training expenses.

1. PAID TRAINING COURSES TAKEN IN MONTRÉAL

If you need to travel to Montréal to take a paid training course offered by AQTIS 514 IATSE, you may be eligible for a 50% discount on the regular rate.

Eligibility requirements

To receive the discount, you must meet all of the following requirements:

be a member in good standing;
live within the eligible area. View the list of eligible postal codes;
travel to Montréal to take the training course;
at the time you register, the same training course must not be scheduled in your region during the current month or the following month.

Example: if you register at the beginning of April for a training course offered in Montréal, that training course must not already be scheduled in your region in April or May.

If a training course is announced in your region after you register, you will keep the discount you received for the training course in Montréal. If you choose instead to take the newly offered training course in your region, the applicable terms will be adjusted accordingly.

2. OHS TRAINING COURSES TAKEN NEAR YOU

For certain OHS training courses offered free of charge by AQTIS 514 IATSE, you may choose to take an eligible training course through a training provider near you. AQTIS 514 IATSE may then reimburse all or part of the cost, up to the maximum amount established for the training course.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must meet all of the following requirements:

be a member in good standing;
live within the eligible area. View the list of eligible postal codes;
not have received reimbursement from AQTIS 514 IATSE for the same training course or taken it free of charge in Montréal within the past three years;
submit the application form and all required documents no later than two months after the training date;
meet the specific requirements for the selected training course, as indicated below;

Eligible training courses and maximum reimbursement amounts

TRAINING COURSE	MAXIMUM REIMBURSEMENT	REQUIREMENTS
Conventional forklift	$215	Minimum duration of 6 hours. The training course must comply with CSA B335-25, include both a theoretical and a practical component completed on the same day, and cannot be taken remotely*.
Telescopic forklift	$215	Minimum duration of 6 hours. The training course must comply with CSA B335-25, include both a theoretical and a practical component completed on the same day, and cannot be taken remotely*.
Aerial lifts and elevating work platforms	$215	Minimum duration of 6 hours. The training course must comply with CSA B354.7 and B354.8.17, cannot be taken remotely, and must include both a theoretical and a practical component completed on the same day. It must cover aerial lifts (Type 3 – Group A) and elevating work platforms (Type 3 – Group B).
OODHV Act – Driver component	$210	Minimum duration of 6 hours. The training course cannot be completed independently online** and must be adapted to Québec road transportation regulations and context.
OODHV Act – Manager component	$210	Minimum duration of 5 hours. The training course cannot be completed independently online** and must be adapted to Québec road transportation regulations and context.
Fall protection	$135	Minimum duration of 6 hours. The training course must comply with CSA Z259 and cannot be taken remotely**.
Respiratory protection	$105	The training course must comply with CSA Z94.4.
First aid in the workplace	$160	The training course must be entitled “Secourisme en milieu de travail” and be provided by a CNESST-certified training provider. No other training course will be covered.
Traffic signaler	$335	Only the training course offered by the AQTR is eligible.
Transportation of hazardous materials	$180	Minimum duration of 4 hours. The training course cannot be completed independently online** and must be adapted to Québec road transportation regulations and context. The training provider must issue a certificate that meets regulatory requirements and is valid for 36 months.

The amounts indicated include taxes and represent the maximum reimbursement. The actual amount reimbursed will correspond to the amount shown on the invoice, up to the applicable maximum.

*A training course that cannot be taken remotely must be completed in person.

**A training course that cannot be completed independently online must be taken with an instructor, either in person or remotely.

Before registering for an OHS training course, check with the training provider to ensure that the selected training course meets all the requirements listed above. If you are unsure, contact us at formations@aqtis514iatse.com to confirm its eligibility.

REIMBURSEMENT PROCEDURE

You must first pay for and complete the training course. Once the training is completed, submit your request to formations@aqtis514iatse.com along with all of the following documents:

the invoice from the training provider, issued in your personal name. Invoices issued to a company or to AQTIS 514 IATSE will not be accepted;
your certificate of successful completion, competency card or certificate of participation issued by the training provider;
the duly completed reimbursement application form;
your banking information or a void cheque;
proof of residence, such as a utility bill, driver’s licence, lease or home insurance document.

Your complete application must be received no later than two months after the training date. Applications received after this deadline will be denied.

Eligible reimbursements are issued within two to four weeks of receiving the complete application.
